MANSFIELD ISD EARNS AWARDS FOR
GOOD FINANCIAL PRACTICES

ansfield ISD has once again received two
awards that prove its financial practices
are among the best in the state. goals and objectives. The MBA also promotes
and recognizes best budget presentation
practices in school districts.
The district earned the Award of Merit for
Purchasing Operations – Recognized Status
from the Texas Association of School Business
Officials (TASBO) and the Meritorious Budget
Award (MBA) from the Association of School
Business Officials International (ASBO). It is the third year MISD has received the
distinction.
To be considered for the MBA, participants
submit their budget applications to ASBO’s
panel of financial professionals for review. The
applications are then assessed for compliance
and other requirements.
The Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations
is given to school districts and education
service centers statewide that are committed
to following professional standards in the
purchasing process. Organizations that earn
additional points in the evaluation process
receive Recognized Status and are considered
the most innovative in Texas.
School districts receive the MBA when the
review team agrees the budget documentation
has met or exceeded the MBA criteria.
A team of reviewers evaluated the purchasing
department’s various procedures and
practices, including organization, policies
and procedures, contract operations, staff
training and certification, use of technology and
communication.
The MISD purchasing department will receive
formal recognition on Thursday, March 7 at
TASBO’s 73rd annual conference in San Antonio.
ASBO’s Meritorious Budget Award (MBA)
acknowledges the district for having an
accessible, accurate and easily understandable
2018-19 budget that communicates the district’s
