T
he Mansfield ISD Education Foundation’s prize patrol was out in full force on Nov. 16 and Dec. 1 to surprise
deserving staff with grant money.
Thirty-four grants totaling $200,000 were awarded for various innovative projects and activities that go beyond
the normal classroom experience. Examples of the funded ideas include discovery parks and science, technology,
engineering, arts and math (STEAM) book initiatives.
Earlier in the school year, the foundation funded $7,000 in mini-grants. Mini-grants are grants for $250 or less that
make an immediate impact in classrooms. Another round of grants will be awarded in the spring.
The non-profit organization has raised more than $3 million in grants since its inception in the fall of 1998.
