District Employees Recognized for
being Mansfield ISD’s Shining Stars
Mansfield ISD recognized three
employees with the Shining Star Award at
the annual Employee Awards Banquet on
May 16.
The Shining Star award, first created
as the Above and Beyond Award in 1997, is
awarded to non-teaching staff members
for their exceptional service and contribu-
tions to the students and staff of Mans-
field ISD.
The public nomination process allows
district students, staff, parents and the
community to honor those who are ex-
emplars in serving students and staff.
Shelley Taylor has been the Risk Man-
ager for MISD for 19 years. She was nomi-
nated for the positive and caring approach
she takes in all that she does, despite
having a role that often looks at the more
challenging side of district operations.
Her passion for her work and creating
safe campus and district environments,
through building strong relationships, is
palpable.
Officer Warren Tillman was nominat-
ed, not only for his commitment to keep
students at Linda Jobe Middle School safe
on a daily basis, but also for his commit-
ment to building trusting positive relation-
ships with students and serving as a pos-
itive role model every day. Officer Tillman
has served in law enforcement for over
25 years and after officially retiring, joined
the Mansfield ISD Police Department.
He believes in all students and makes it a
priority to ensure that all students at Linda
Jobe Middle School know that he is there
for them.
Elba Turcios is a custodian at Rogene
Worley Middle School. She has been with
the district for six years and spent four
years working in Arlington ISD prior to
joining Mansfield ISD. She enjoys inter-
acting with students, staff and the Worley
community. She was nominated for her
dedication to students, her team player
mentality and willingness to do anything
to support the students and staff at Wor-
ley. She takes pride in all that she does and
is known to always have a smile on her
face.
