MISD Step Teams Earn Top Spots at Nationals

wo teams from Lake Ridge High School stepped their
way into being some of the best in the country by
finishing in top spots at a recent national competition.
Lake Ridge High’s boys step team, Distinguished
Gentleman, earned the first place trophy at the National
Stepping Association's Youth Division National
Championship.
The 42-member girls team, Dynasty, finished in third place
in the high school division after having an undefeated
season at the local and state level.
The Distinguished Gentleman was created in spring 2017.
The national competition took place March 23-24 in
Daytona Beach, Florida. Step teams from the elementary,
middle, high school and collegiate division participated in
the contest.
National Stepping Association is a non-profit organization
dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the
stepping art form, which uses a mixture of complex
footsteps and handclaps to make rhythmic sounds.
This is the ninth year the organization has held its national
competition.
Dynasty was featured on NBC 5 after an undefeated season.
