Mansfield High Earns Silver in Best High Schools Rankings

ansfield High School has been named one of the top
high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World
Report. The campus received a silver medal in the rankings.
The U.S. News 2016 Best High Schools rankings include
data on approximately 20,000 public high schools in all
50 states and Washington, D.C.
Schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals
based on their performance on state assessments, their
graduation rates, and how well they prepare students for
college. This year marks the first time graduation rates
have been used in ranking high schools at this scale.
Latin Students Take Home Medals from State Competition
A
group of Mansfield ISD students were
recognized for being some of the top in
the state for their skills in Latin. The students
earned medals and awards at the Texas State
Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Convention in
Houston, Texas.
TSJCL is an organization dedicated to the study
of Latin and Greek classics. It is the largest
classical organization in the world, encompassing
over 45,000 middle and high school students.
The Latin club took part in the TSJCL convention on April 22-24.
Categories at the competition ranged from
grammar and vocabulary to history and dramatic
interpretation.
