Mansfield ISD has introduced an Ambassador of
Education Award. The award is given to a person who
consistently demonstrates exemplary performance and
committed service to Mansfield ISD.
The recipient of the 2016 MISD Ambassador of Education
Award is VanDella Menifee. Menifee is the PTA president
at James Coble Middle School. She also serves on the
Board of Directors of the MISD Education Foundation and
various organizations throughout the community.
“I am so honored for anyone to even recognize me in this
way,” said Menifee. “I do it because I’m so passionate
about people, education, and Mansfield ISD, and I thank
everyone in the district who allows me to serve them in
any way that I can.”
Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas surprised VanDella
Menifee with the award at the Employee Awards Banquet.
The award was presented to Menifee at the 2016 MISD
Employee Awards Banquet on May 9.
Fifty Community Members Graduate from the MISD Leadership Academy
M
ansfield ISD parents and community members got
the chance to go behind-the-scene to gain in-depth
knowledge about the district’s operations and policies.
The 50 participants, mostly nominated by school
principals, were part of MISD’s newly-launched
Leadership Academy.
The program included monthly sessions that focused
on specific areas of the district, including: curriculum
and instruction, support services, athletics, school
finance, and more. Questions and feedback were
encouraged during every session.
The first graduating class of the MISD Leadership Academy met every
month to gain a better understanding about the district.
30 Mansfield School & Family
“As a former MISD student, a former MISD
employee, and now a parent in MISD, I still
had so much to learn about the inner workings
of our district,” said Stefanie Copeland, one of
the program’s graduates. “After all that I have
learned through this program, I couldn’t be
prouder to not only say that I am MISD, but
that our family will always be MISD.”
The district plans to induct a new class of
community members at the start of the 2016-17
school year.
