MISD Librarians Earn Prestigious Award

ansfield ISD’s “And the Winner is…” event
received the Texas Library Association’s 2016
Wayne Williams Library Project Award. The award
spotlights a project that exemplifies the highest
levels of achievement, professional standards, and
inspiration for other libraries.
An elementary student was happy to go on stage and accept
the award for Best Poetry Book.
“And the Winner is…” is a glamorous red-carpet
evening hosted by librarians from several MISD
elementary schools. Students vote for their favorite
books in the months before the event, and the
winning literature is announced at the glamorous
Oscar-like ceremony.
The project was spearheaded by Lynn Kostel (Anna
May Daulton Elementary), Susan Buckles (Tarver-Rendon Elementary), Anne Wallace-James (Elizabeth
Smith Elementary), and Tracy LaHue (retired).
MISD librarians noted that the event improved library circulation and helped students and their parents get
excited about books.
