How did the idea for "Born Lucian" come
about?
I’ve always considered myself to be very
patriotic when it comes to St. Lucia. The "Born
Lucian" song came to mind during one of those
times when I was missing home.
I wrote it in collaboration with my manager,
Marna Martinez, who is a published writer. My
cousin, Kevin Charles, also gave me some ideas.
It is such a beautiful song, one that has been
referred to as the unofficial anthem of Saint
Lucia. Did you think that Born Lucian would
be such a hit?
No, I never imagined that the "Born Lucian"
song would become such a big hit, especially
because it was my first country & western song.
Because your genre of music is more calypso
and soca. How does it make you feel when you
hear people, especially little kids singing "Born
Lucian?"
