Erin Foreman
Erin Foreman is an assistant professor in the
Exercise and Sport Sciences Department and the
head athletic trainer for Manchester University.
Where did you go to school?
I earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic
training from Ball State University in 2004.
And in 2006, I graduated from West Virginia
University with a master’s degree in advanced
athletic training.
What are some of your job
responsibilities?
I’m a full-time faculty member and teach
courses in exercise and sport sciences, as
well as Human Anatomy in the Biology
Department. I’m an academic advisor and the
faculty advisor for the Manchester University
Athletic Training Club. I also serve on MU’s
Wellness Committee and the Academic
Integrity Panel Committee.
As head athletic trainer, I’m in charge of the
day-to-day operations of the athletic training
room. My responsibilities include insurance
for all our student-athletes, athletic coverage,
policies and procedures, budget, inventory,
performance evaluations, facilitating weekly
staff meetings, physical scheduling and setup. I’m also the head athletic trainer for the
football team.
What brought you to Manchester?
Manchester is close to home. I grew up in
Marion and Gas City, Ind. Manchester was my
first job out of graduate school.
What are your hobbies?
I like to work in my yard and garden. I also
am a huge fan of music and attend a lot of
music events. I also like to cook and bake and
work on craft projects for my house.
Do you have any favorite stories that
happened while on the job?
My favorite memories are hearing about our
students’ success. I love it when a student tells
me they got accepted into graduate school, or
got the internship or the job, and they thank
me for the help. The happiness I see on the
student’s face after hearing news like that is
what drives me to do my best.
What do you like best about working
at Manchester?
I love the staff that I work with. We have all
been together since our undergraduate studies
and we all have the same goal – to develop the
best program and student we can.
What’s your best advice for students?
Always put in your best effort as a student
starting from Day 1, both in the classroom
and outside the classroom. Get involved
outside the classroom. So many opportunities
are available to you here at Manchester, but as
a student you have to put in the effort to take
advantage of them.
