It’ s no secret that summers in the Manchester area are bursting with cultural events, including theatrical performances, live music, and major art exhibits hosted by our local non-profit arts institutions. We’ ve compiled some of our favorites here so you can plan ahead. Grab your calendars and dig in!

Dorset Theatre Festival’ s Main Stage Summer Season returns! The four-show lineup includes Deceived, a chilling new adaptation of the classic thriller Gaslight, by Johnna Wright & Patty Jamieson( June 19 – July 4); The Understudy by Theresa Rebeck( July 10 – July 18); the New England Premiere of Advice by Brent Askari( July 31 – August 15); and Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan( August 21 – September 5). All performances will take place at the historic Dorset Playhouse.“ This season is packed with suspense, sharp comedy, and complex characters navigating high-stakes situations,” said Executive Artistic Director Will Rucker.“ From a pulse-pounding psychological thriller to a Tony Award ®– winning modern classic, these plays examine power, ambition, truth, and the fragile lines between them. It’ s going to be an electrifying summer in Dorset.”
Manchester Music Festival Summer 2026

The renowned Vermont chamber music festival under the artistic direction of Philip Setzer of the Emerson String Quartet, returns for its 52nd season with Sounding America: Music That Shaped US, a wide-ranging exploration of American music inspired by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. The extended season features five mainstage programs, each framed as a distinct musical“ journey,” along with special events and performances that reflect the depth, diversity, and evolving story of American classical music. The season celebrates composers and performers whose voices have shaped the nation’ s musical identity, drawing from a confluence of backgrounds, cultures, and traditions. The season opens with a Community Kickoff Party on July 7 at 5pm on the Yester House Patio at the Southern Vermont Arts Center. Catered by curATE Café and featuring a performance by folk ensemble Grand Picnic, the free event welcomes the community to celebrate the start of the season together.
