REASON
MAKES
CHAMPIONS
Barcelona, with humble manager
Pedro Pereira, had a storming season, winning the champions league, finishing second in Primera DivisiĆ³n, just two points behind the champion, and winning Copa del Rey.
The league winner was decided on the very last match day as Barcelona drew and Real Madrid won.
Last season's bronze medal and
the decline of Everton, inspired Middlesbrough to play their best season ever and win the Premier League title for the 3rd time under crafty Paul Skelton's management. The team also reached final of League cup but was beaten by Dave Middleton's Manchester City.
Strong second and improved team was Newcastle with manager Thomas Schmidt, who joined from Anderlecht, where he had won the league and two Belgium cups.
Just before the last game of the season, Leicester City presented their new manager in Stephen Woodhead, former Arsenal and Milan boss.
