vessels. The level of NORM accumulation can vary substantially from one
facility to another depending on geological formation and other factors.
To determine whether or not a facility has NORM contamination, NORM
survey, sampling and analysis needs to be conducted. (ESR, 2011)
It is said that in order to do sustainable development, sufficient waste
management is rather important. (Winkler and Kaluza, 2006).
NORM waste management requires special attention due to their potential
hazard to the environment and to human health, particularly for those persons
working in the industry, however, there are regulatory framework which exist
at both the international and national level that makes rules and provides
guidelines on the waste management of these Naturally Occurring Radioactive
Materials.
