On Shifting Grounds

The never-ending drama of the current Kenyan political circus reminds one of an old Cherokee saying that the mastery of riding a horse is not getting up on the horse but in staying on the horse especially at a gallop .

It appears that so much effort and energy was expended in winning the elections that not enough thought and planning was put in place in how the government was going to be run and the victors now certainly know that it does not run on autopilot .
When the government categorically ruled against any possible handshake and exhorted the opposition to stick to its role of keeping the government on its toes , little did they expect to be kept constantly on their feet .
The now regular demonstrations begun on a rather tenuous claim that the elections were rigged and that the opposition apparently wanted the servers opened to prove they won the election making Kenyans wonder why they had conceded .

Rutonomics seem to have no viable alternative to raising the revenue part of the equation but to increase tax levels and remind Kenyans , who have always paid taxes , to pay taxes . Perhaps in the inner circle there are no economists to explain the concept of tax fatigue .
It is not lost to the common man that in their wisdom they have seen it fit to remove VAT from the purchase of choppers . One can only guess that this is a weird example of Marie Antoinette ’ s quote ‘ if they don ’ t have bread , let them eat cake ’.
The most logical course of action for an administration that has accused its predecessor of being profligate is to drastically cut expenditure but this administration seems totally averse to cutting expenditure and continues to create unconstitutional offices just to spend .
The administration seems to be totally tone-deaf to the pleas of mama mboga and boda boda riders who were the mainstay of its
