The relationship between the executive and the judiciary is at the moment so cozy as to make the judiciary virtually a department of the executive and the grateful judiciary have gone out of their way to show support by dropping all high-profile corruption cases which per script were termed witch hunts . witch hunts will become live court cases . They are just dormant .
or favor and the constitution anticipated that their decisions will at times be contentious and even unpopular , hence the protection .
How does one operate independently if on taking a decision , one is then subjected to a commission of enquiry by the unhappy party ? So we laud the IEBC for an exemplary job done and in the same breath demonize the institution . You laud democracy and undermine it simultaneously .
Democracy is predicated on the premise of strong institutions and the separation of powers . When democratic institutions start to dance to the tune of one branch , in our case , the executive then democracy is on a death bed .

It is not lost to Kenyans that the cases , since they were not fully heard and determined , but just withdrawn suggests that the day a judiciary that does not sing to the executive ’ s tune is in place then all those

On ascension to power the president surprised everyone by declaring his support for a strong opposition who in his own words were supposed to keep the government in check and of course this script was well-received in the democratic world .
The international community had not even finished lauding the visionary leadership of this new African democratic icon before the president was raiding the opposition ranks and buying out any politician up for sale to bolster his parliamentary majority which didn ’ t exist .
The executive had thus completed the legislative capture and therefore the whole academic theory of the separation of powers between the various arms of government were permanently compromised and effectively inert .
The Script then suggested that the president lacked popular national support and has therefore embarked on a mission requiring all the constituent parties in his coalition to merge into his UDA party even though elections are four years away . The country is still in campaign mode .
The best proof that the country is still in campaign mode is the fact that not a week passes without the president and his deputy castigating the former administration for the mess the country is in , forgetting that they are now the captains , and that was why they were elected precisely to fix that very mess .
Since the script they used to upstage the former administration worked they seem reluctant to relinquish the sweetness of victory and want to savor it for a while longer or could it be that they actually only know how to campaign but as yet do not know how to govern .
Judging by the many unforced mistakes that they have committed following several unprofessional roadside declarations it would seem that reality is dawning on them that governing is not the hot air that words are . It is real hard work .
Nothing undermines the Kenyan confidence in the government more than the choice of CSs and PSs that was made . When the president stated in his campaign that his government would be made of hustlers and mama mbogas , Kenya did not think he meant it literally .
But as per his script these crucial appointments that are the backbone of the country have been distributed on a loyaltycriteria , not competence . Most are fallen politicians who pander to their constituency and not to the nation and their main qualification is self-serving loyalty .
The few professionals in the government are being asked to work with a bunch of noisy and now bootlicking politicians . If this is the team the president is counting on to deliver the nation then the country is indeed in need of divine deliverance .
In that regard the country is not doing badly since we have gone back to the Moi era when attending church was a state function and the president and his deputy ’ s spouses are prayer warrior and pastor respectively . Probably signifying that what the country needs is prayers !
