One measure of a modern and cosmopolitan city is the existence of fine restaurants that offer an international cuisine , one should be able to undertake a culinary adventure within a city and be able to find all types of specialist dishes .
There are even gourmet travel writers that specialize in guiding you to exquisite eateries . Any city worth its salt , so to speak , usually has at least Chinese and Indian restaurants and from that base , cities can go wild to include Argentinian steak houses , Sushi outlets , Mexican Taco joints , Lebanese ones etc .
What many may have missed in Kenya is the emergence of high-end local fish eateries . The trend is being spurred by our lakeside dwellers who have taken their love for fish and ugali to the next level and Nairobi city is brimming with outlets of what the lake can offer .

society to an unprecedented level of voyeurism where everyone is enthralled by other people ’ s everyday life and this is what has given rise to reality TV . Society is addicted to a Peeping Tom syndrome .
What is encouraging is that the core customers for these outlets are mainly of the lake origin but their dishes now appeal to a wider clientele and by constructing beautiful and affordable restaurants whether indoors or outdoors they have succeeded in attracting a solid customer base .
So you can very well imagine that if the next government is formed from the lakeside , then brace yourself for the purchase of the Intercontinental Hotel to set up a fish palace , but do we say , so that visiting dignitaries can sample a truly Kenyan culinary experience .
