In Genesis 39: 2 “The Lord was with
Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived
in the house of his Egyptian master.
When his master saw that the Lord was
with him and that the Lord gave him
success in everything he did, Joseph
found favor in his eyes and became his
attendant.” 2 Chronicles 1: 1 “Solomon,
son of David, established himself firmly
over his Kingdom, for the Lord his God
was with him and made him exceedingly
great. “
How then do we start this journey of
sustainable and guaranteed success?
We all must seek God to be with us. 2
chronicles 15: 2 “The Lord is with you
when you are with him. If you seek him,
he will be found by you, but if you forsake
him, he will forsake you” In 2 Chronicles,
15: 3 “For a long time Israel was without
the true God, without a priest to teach,
and without the law. But in their distress,
they turned to the Lord, the God of
Israel, and sought him, and he was found
by them”.
How do we seek and find the Lord?
We seek God to be with us by doing
what is right in his eyes and obeying
his commands. 1 Kings 11: 38 “If you
do whatever I command you and walk
in obedience to me and do what is right
in my eyes by obeying my decrees and
commands, as David my servant did, I will
be with you.”
Hezekiah, King of Judah, is a good
example, 2 Kings 18: 15 “Hezekiah trusted
in the Lord the God of Israel. There was
no one like him among the kings of Judah,
either before him or after him. He held fast
the Lord and did not stop following him;
he kept the commands the Lord had given
Moses, and the Lord was with him; he was
successful in whatever he undertook.”
I share these biblical truths about success
because when you have something helpful
to say, silence is a lie. And that is why
David passed on some wisdom to his
son Solomon. 1 Kings 2: 2 “David was
about to die, but said this to Solomon: I
am about to go the way of all the earth,
so be strong, act like a man, and observe
what the Lord your God requires; walk
in obedience to him, and keep his decrees
and commands, his laws and regulations,
as written in the law of Moses. Do this
so that you may prosper in all you do and
wherever you go and the Lord may keep
his promise to me.”
This success we are talking about here
is the true success that gives you rest,
that gives you peace. To achieve that
success, we must continually, and with the
integrity of heart and righteousness, seek
God with all our minds and with all our
hearts. And when we seek him, we will
find him. When we find him and He is
with us, he will make us victorious, he will
make us powerful, he will make us great in
whatever we undertake and wherever we
go. What an assurance?
