give you a head start. Look at your January goals and break them down into weekly goals and your weekly goals into daily goals. Then just begin. There is no ceremony or short-cut to it. As the Nike slogan says, Just do it! As you take action, expect the old you to show up and try to take control. Remember the decisions you have made, why you made them and stick to them. Champions are champions because they routinely do the hard things that others avoid. Create new habits. Be focused and determined in your execution, keeping your eye on your goals and you will enjoy the sweet victory of success, when the pain of the journey fades into oblivion. Keep Track and Plan Ahead Equally important to taking action is reviewing and keeping track. Regularly stop to review your progress towards your goals by having daily reviews of your daily goals, weekly reviews of your weekly goals, monthly reviews of your monthly goals and quarterly reviews of your quarterly plans. Use this time to also plan the following day, week, month or quarter as well. Diligently measuring your progress and planning ahead will enable you celebrate successes and make course corrections sooner, rather than later. Get an Accountability Partner Getting someone to walk with towards your goals can be the key to success. This may be a coach or a trusted colleague, friend or family member. Choose this person carefully; a supportive, non- judgmental active listener, committed to you and interested in your success. They also need to review your goals and support and challenge you in your journey towards your goals. Share your annual, quarterly and current month goals with them and agree how they will support you. Agree also when you will meet monthly and honour these appointments. As you go along, check on your relationship and agree how to maintain and improve it. The fruits of good planning are plenty and it all starts with taking time out for a personal retreat. The process may be intense and appear complicated, especially if you are doing it for the first time, however it will help you honestly assess your past so you can detach and move on towards a fuller, richer and more satisfying life with clarity and focus. The changes you need to make will not happen by accident – you must take deliberate steps, with regular pit-stops to monitor your progress and make course corrections. I wish you a successful personal retreat and a 2019 of great all- round breakthrough. Make it happen; your results will be well worth the effort!
