Free Workshop for Maine Music Teachers! Maine Kids Rock! is an initiative of the Maine Department of Education to increase student access to and participation in music education across the state. The initiative will help launch Modern Band programs in school districts throughout Maine. Little Kids Rock, a national nonprofit leader in inclusive, culturally relevant, student-centered music education, will be a key partner in this endeavor. The organization will be responsible for facilitating the training of the state’s music educators and equipping them with the necessary curriculum and instruments to successfully launch and run Modern Band programming. Modern Band music programs teach the popular musical styles of the past 60 years using instruments appropriate to this stream of music. Modern Band complements existing programs such as jazz band, choral programs, marching band, and orchestral music. Modern Band is a core component of Maine’s arts education plan.
