Ichiro Japanese Restaurant

12011 2nd Ave

Richmond

Ichiro’s is a gem in the Steveston Village area. The restaurant seems no more than average at first sight but when I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm greetings and by the clean and cozy interior. There’s a kitchen in the centre of the restaurant where some of the chefs prepare your orders and every employee was speaking Japanese to each other. The menu had a large variety of sushi, noodles, rice bowls, bentos, desserts and more to choose from. When we got our orders, I could immediately tell that their Japanese food was going to be one of the best I’ve ever tried. I ordered the Ichiro Don (one of the chef specials) and my friend ordered the beef udon and three pieces of fresh-tasting sushi. The udon had a slippery, soft and springy texture to them while the beef and soup were flavourful and overall delicious. My Ichiro Don included an assortment of tempura on rice. In my opinion, the tempura was seasoned perfectly and it wasn’t too greasy at all. We found ourselves eating up the food within minutes because of how delicious it was. It definitely leaves you craving more.
