Magnetic Tape No.5 05 | Page 5

SPRING 2014 Page 4 We originally had Jake from Huffin’ Paint on bass, but he had commitments with uni and art projects so he was eventually replaced by Phil (of La Boite Diabolique/ JT SOAR recording infamy), who was our stand in bassist for a while. That’s pretty much it, our lineup has remained the same and we’ve just toured the fuck out of the band since then really! Matt: Before this band I’d been playing drums in Joanna Gruesome & Saturday’s Kids, as well as playing guitar and writing songs for my own bands Evariste Galois & Imagination Arrow with both those bands going nowhere due to me being terrible at organising. For some reason I’ve never been able to push my own music, which is why it was good that Joe was able to be involved in this band as I can write songs but have zero talent at administration. "NOW WE’RE FINISHING WRITING OUR ALBUM, WHICH IS BEING RELEASED IN SUMMER VIA THE EXCELLENT, AND EVER EXPANDING, ART FOR BLIND RECORDS." IT CURRENTLY STANDS AT 12 SONGS AND WON’T HAVE A TITLE OR SONG TITLES, LIKE THE OTHER RECORDS." You’ve had a few short releases and some splits – are you planning a longer release, or do you like the shorter ones? Creative Common’s license; Anthony Easdon http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ Joe C: We did a bunch of smaller releases and splits just to get networking really, make some friends and share our “fanbases” (seems a big word for 50 people) and generally make touring easier. Now we’re finishing writing our album, which is being released in summer via the excellent, and ever expanding, Art for Blind Records. Currently stands at 12 songs and won’t have a title or song titles, like the other records. Also on its way out slowly but surely is a split 7” with an excellent Macedonian punk band called XAXAXA. They are members of Bernays Propaganda and do a really cool, dreamy, mid paced jangle punk thing. Matt: I think shorter releases work well as an introduction, but I think people don’t like 7”s as much because nobody wants to be flipping/ changing their records every five minutes.
