MAGNETIC TAPE ZINE PLAIDS.BANDCAMP.COM PLAIDS NOTTINGHAM / PUNK How did Plaids come together as a band? Joe C: Me and Phil were playing in a failed (but very enjoyable) post punk / wierd pop kinda band called La Boite Diabolique and I was playing guitar and singing quite technically, I had an urge to do something really simple and hardcore punk based. Around that time I saw Greenberg (guitarist) had put an advert on CollectiveZine (UK DIY/punk music website) looking to start a band in a kinda 90s meets 80s hardcore style, which got my attention. I chatted to him and it turned out I had heard his old band and he had heard mine, so we organised a jam. Nick (drummer) ended up doing bass/vocals in local posthardcore band Without Maps when he returned from a year living in Japan, but had mentioned he’d like to keep up playing drums in a band somehow, and I had mastered his old band Dead Spex’s stuff and knew he was a great and incredibly tight drummer.
