Czesław Tumielewicz
– a painter and a graphic artist , since 1994 a professor th at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk , born Nov . 20 , 1942 in Lida . In May 1945 expatriated to a small village near Poznań . Since 1961 has been living in Gdańsk .
Hi studied architecture and simultaneously painting and graphic arts ( among his professors were W . Lam and A . Gerżabek ). He has a diploma in fine arts from the School of Fine Arts in Poznań ( awarded 1978 ). From then until now he has participated in over 400 exhibitions both in Poland and abroad . In 1981 was a Kościuszko Foundation fellow in the USA . Has been awarded numerous prizes for his paintings and graphic works -the first prize at the National Exhibition of Young Art in Sopot , 1974 , the first prize in the Polish Painting Competition of Spychalski in Poznań , 1977 , one of ten joint awards at the Polish Graphic Exhibition in Warsaw , 1973 . He participated several times in the International Graphic Biennale in Cracow ( 1971 , 1984 , 1997 , 2000 ) , in Nationwide Graphic Art Exhibitions in Katowice ( 1997 , 2000 ) in the Toruń Exhibitions of Colour in Graphic Arts ( 1982 , 1985 , 1988 , 1991 , 1993 , 1997 ), also in the Modern Painting Festivals in Szczecin ( 1972 , 1974 , 1978 , 1998 , 2000 ), The Still Life Reviews in Sieradz ( 1997 , 2000 ) also in The Triennale of Portrait and Selfportrait in Radom ( 1987 , 2000 , 2003 ). In 2007 he was awarded the first prize in the Contest for the Graphic Art of the Year , by the Gdańsk Society of Friends of Art . He is the winner of the first prize of the City of Gdańsk Award in the field of culture .
In 2012 Minister of Culture and National Heritage , Bogdan Zdrojewski , decorated him with a mark of distinction “ Contributor to National Culture ”. In 2013 he was also nominated for Artistic Award of Pomerania region ”.
