Classroom Etiquette
Treat me and others respectfully, turn off cell phones, and do whatever else as dictated
by common sense. Don’t be rude. Don’t be late.
This is a professional-level writing course. So, if you are going to be casual about
your attendance or you know you don’t always put forth your best effort, please drop the
course now and save my time and your tuition money.
Discrimination or Harassment
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will not tolerate discrimination or harassment by
or toward students, employees, and guests on the basis of sex, race, religion, color,
creed, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age or any other prohibited
basis defined by federal or state law or University of Wisconsin System policy.
Discrimination and harassment are inconsistent with UW-Platteville's efforts to foster an
environment of respect for all members of the university community.
Special Needs
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), all qualified students
enrolled in this course are entitled to “reasonable accommodations.” Any student who
may need an accommodation due to a disability, please make an appointment to see
me during my office hours. A VISA from Services for Students with Disabilities
authorizing your accommodations will be needed.
Backing Up Your Work
Backing up your work is your responsibility. Missed deadlines as a result of computer
problems (e.g., crashes, glitches, viruses) are inexcusable. Also, make sure you can
retrieve your projects if class is held in a computer lab (i.e., store them on your J-drive,
email them to yourself, etc.).
