I was dreaming of unlimited noodles and wontons, that is, until I woke up and I thought, oh, no, it’s Monday. I got out of bed (which made me a bit sad because I loved the softness of my own bed.) I rushed into the dining room table and looked at the food on my plate. I expected rice, and other whatnot. Maybe also some disgusting chicken (NO SKIN!) mixed with another type of yucky sauce. That morning, though, everything was different.
The English muffin was consumed by a couple of bites until Mom came in the room. I glanced at the door, and then focused on eating that English muffin. “You don’t need to go to school today,” she exclaimed with a lisp on her small, thick, lips. My eyes locked on her with a look of disbelief. In body language, she replied to me with a look which seemed like a mischievous- I don’t know, cat or something.
A sigh came from my mouth randomly while I was putting way too much pressure on my braces-covered teeth while brushing it. Ow. As I took my last sip of water and spat it out, I also looked in my “messy” wardrobe. Seriously, it actually did look pretty weird. I stayed in my pajamas, laying in my favorite bed with my 4 stuffed animals, Panda, Hedgy, and Meadow (for about 6 seconds). I finally got out of my bed after about 6 seconds (a new record!!!)
Sometime later I hopped into my Toyota and we drove away to Chinook Mall because it’s the only mall I know and like that actually has a second floor. The possibilities were so endless when it came to mall shops. I smiled at the sight of Old Navy. Oh, all that beautiful cheap stuff. All those sales that are going all at once. Just so beautiful.
A feeling shot me as I looked at the clock. 8:23 a.m. Really, I still didn’t trust my mom about all this. I was late for school. Well, it was worth it, to actually spend time with my mom. But soon my mom smiled at a store that I personally hated so, so much.
