The paintballs were flying. It was a wall of paint. We had to wait for our opportunities to push. We had plenty of smoke to deploy to help blind out movements.
The German side had a fury of tanks that were relentless. The uphill fight was a serious challenge. After “Reaper” gave the Allied forces a bit of motivation, it was time to exit the boats.
As we left the boats we ran to our shooting position, an absolutely crazy amount of paint was raining down on our position. So many allied were shot out before they could get to their position of battle. Taking a look at history and how this battle was fought, you can see and experience the battle. Oklahoma D-Day Adventure Park did it right. This re-enactment was damn close to what I have read and seen in researching this war. It is amazing that anyone from the Allied side even survived the real war. For me this was a great thing to experience, it gave me a different perspective of D-Day. This is the intent of the creator of D-Day Adventure Park.
After all the action on the field, I hit the showers at the park. Then it is back to camp to recharge with some BBQ and a cold drink, conversation about the day’s events and sharing the stories from the field.
Other events that went on at D-Day were helicopter rides. This was a great way to see the whole park from a different perspective. There was also an obstacle course that players competed in for prizes that attracted a lot of players. Track Chair races, BBQ and many other entertaining aspects were also enjoyed.
Vender row was crazy. You never know what is going to happen or what you are going to see when you go to this event. That is part of the fun. A real tank drove around for a bit and a crazed group of glow stick people showed up out of nowhere. Some teams / units even marched through and sang cadence. Like I said, you never know what is going to happen at D-Day.
With all that goes on at D-Day there is no reason you why you should not make it out to this event. It is nothing like any other event you will ever go to. It has it's own environment, culture and plenty of action and fun to get involved in. I definitely suggest you go out to Oklahoma and check it out.
This has to be one of the coolest events I have ever been a part of. I will go again.
Thanks to the Staff of D-Day for making this a memorable event.
