two way climb trail in the woods that is about three quarters of a mile long, that then leads into a set of three one-way trails going back downhill.
“ It’ s become kind of a crown jewel for KYMBA Bluegrass and Mountain Biking in Central Kentucky,” said Strom.
In the first year of being open an impact study was done on the park by Berea College that determined 4,000 users came out in the first year of the park being operational, and each of those users generated an estimated impact of $ 35-40 per person in Berea.
“ The Bike Park has largely paid for itself or is on its way to doing that, while creating a really unique amenity for the people of Berea,” said Strom.“ Its an amenity that really lends itself to families coming out there.”
Many events are held at Silver Creek Bike Park throughout the year. KYMBA Bluegrass will begin hosting“ clinics” in August, starting with a women’ s clinic on Saturday, Aug. 16th. These clinics have instructors come out and teach people how to do skills of varying levels for beginners just wanting to learn to ride to experts looking to upgrade their skills. In addition to KYMBA Bluegrass’ s Clinics, Get Outside Kentucky will be having monthly Creekside Bike Bash’ s at the park, featuring contests of various skills such as bunnyhopping or performing manuals, with hot dogs and hamburgers offered at the event. These events will be entirely free of charge to the public.
