Silver Creek Bike Park offers a unique way to get outside as Summer approaches

Silver Creek Bike Park is 3.5 mile( and growing) network of bike trails, jump lines, and a pumptrack located on JC Chambers Rd. In Berea. The park was once a part of the city’ s industrial park, but the land wasn’ t suitable for development. In 2020 it was decided by the Berea City Council that it would be developed for recreational use instead, and the Bike
Park was born. The Kentucky Mountain Bike Association is a bicycle advocacy organization dedicated to providing education, outreach, and environmental stewardship programs to communities in Central Kentucky through the usage of Mountain Bike’ s. They were chosen by the City Council to help develop what would become the Bike Park.
“ They enlisted the help of KYMBA Bluegrass to design
and come up with an idea. We took the idea of using basic mountain bike trails and instead built a Bike Park, which we think is a destination type set of trails where people can come from a little further away to enjoy, rather than just a backyard set of trails,” said Jon Strom, President of KYMBA Bluegrass.
The big feature of the Bike Park is the pumptrack, which is a circuit of rollers, banked turns, and features
designed to be ridden by“ pumping” up and down using the body’ s momentum’ s rather than by pedaling or pushing.
“ It’ s a really fun thing for riders of all ages,” said Strom.
Beyond that is a progressive jumplline featuring bike-optimized tabletop jumps, a slowspeed skills bike park- which has wooden features to emulate what you would find on the trails; and a
