Future Goals In addition to using Instagram to help motivate others and give advice, James said it helps him too. “It did come down to, with me, wanting to, because the focused goal I have is to be a personal trainer eventually and work with people who are as obese as I was,” he explained. “To be able to help them get up and get moving is the biggest … thing, and so I post to try and help. If I inspire one person … it’s worthwhile. And the filters are cool.” James started to realize he wanted to be a personal trainer as others would go to him for advice on dieting and weightlifting because of his personal experience, but then they would some- times discredit what he said because he didn’t have any profes- sional experience. However, he said he wants to accomplish other per- sonal goals before becoming certified to be a personal trainer. He also wants to go back to school to earn an associate’s degree in nutrition to help him give advice to others. So in the mean time, James is working with one of the personal trainers at Anytime Fitness, Brett Sipple, to continue learning more.
