For nearly a century , Concrete Materials Company ( CMC ) has played a vital role in shaping the landscape of Richmond and the surrounding areas . Founded in 1931 by L . M . Winges and G . M . Robertson , CMC has grown from a small Lexington operation to a trusted provider of concrete solutions and construction products . This family-owned business , originally founded in Lexington , has evolved from a small operation to a trusted provider of concrete solutions , playing a vital role in shaping the landscape of central Kentucky .

During World War II , CMC collaborated with other local plants on the construction of the Bluegrass Army Depot in Madison County . 1949 marked a significant expansion , as the establishment of a Richmond plant solidified the company ’ s commitment to serving the general construction market and played a pivotal role in the growth of Richmond and the surrounding areas .
