The Madison County Public Library offers a variety of classes , events , book clubs , and more in both of these spaces , allowing people in the community to have regular access to these machines and services that may not be available at home for everyone .
Almost all of these classes are open to the public and free of cost , and these classes are held both in Berea and in Richmond for people who can only visit one location or the other . Most events don ’ t require registration either , walkins are welcome for most

The Joan Kleine Creative Studio in particular was created thanks in part to donations in honor of Joan Kleine , whose husband Dr . Glen Kleine asked that in lieu of flowers for people to instead donate to the library following her passing .
“ We wanted to find a way to just really honor her legacy , and put her name on something that was near and dear to her : which was education in Richmond , opportunities for kids and everyone ,” said Christina Cornelison , Executive Director of the library .
The Joan Kleine Creative Studio opened August 24th , and was built in the basement of the library , which was repurposed to
|
serve as a creative studio . Flooring was redone , electrical wiring was redone , a sound booth was built and all of the equipment was bought thanks to a $ 35,000 grant from the Steele Reese Foundation and the |
donations from community members .
“ I think that seeing her name on something makes you think , ‘ How can I serve ? How can I impact the community the way Joan Kleine did ?” said Cornelison .
