we developed interest for this hobby called ' aero modeling’. We never stopped making Those Origami planes. Instead, we tried many more methods to make and fly different types of planes. The interest for Flying Machines was getting deeper and deeper as we were growing up. Slowly, we left using paper for making planes; instead we started using scrap material for construction.
Materials like bamboo sticks, cello tape, thread, polythene sheets, old Clothes etc. were used to be our raw materials for making glider models. Proceeding further, we started making different types of flying models like Chuck Gliders, Rubber Powered Planes, Catapult Gliders, and Tow line Gliders. We continued this hobby with these easy models. But as the time passed, we got bored with these models. We wanted to be more advanced. When I was twelve year old, I heard about Radio Controlled airplanes for the first time. Now we wanted to make them as soon as possible.
But money was the main problem. These models are quit costly, and our parents were not able to afford them. So, we started taking tuition classes for the collection of money. Then in 2009 we purchased materials for making our first RC Plane. We were having Blueprints for the models we wanted to make. Vijay is a fantastic sketcher, so he makes all the blueprints and designs of the RC Airplanes we make.
When the materials arrived, we started making our first RC model. Mr. Umanand Sharma, currently working as an Engineer at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore, helped us for purchasing materials. We used basic scrap materials, and tools for making our first RC model. Though we were pre planned, we faced a lot of problems in construction, as it was our first time. But we accepted all the challenges. First of all, we constructed wing using Styrofoam. It was 6 feet in length. Then we constructed Fuselage or body of the Airplane followed by other parts like Horizontal stabilizer and vertical fin which provides stability to an Airplane.
When the whole structure of the airplane was completed, the next challenge was to mount motor, battery and servo motors for the control surfaces. It took 2 days to complete the whole plane. Next day we planned the test flight. In morning at 6 am, we were ready to go to the playground for the first test flight. It was a day with clouds and strong winds. So we waited till evening. We neither ate food nor drank water, as we were curious a lot for the flight. In evening about 5 pm, winds became calm and we started the motor. When we were prepared, we performed a pre flight check, wind direction. I was holding the Remote. As Vijay and Deepak said One, Two Three go..... I increased throttle, the plane rolled on the ground for several feet ' s and took off!! That was the most amazing moment when it left the ground. It was going up and up, and we were staring at the plane with glorious eyes. Then I took a turn and flown it over head and after 15 minutes and then I landed it. It was the First flight of our first plane. We named it " UMA-122 ". Then it became our daily routine to work on RC planes. Every day we used to do something new. We then made a lot of different types of RC planes. And still the Hobby is Continue. Our Parents helped us a lot. Our Father purchased a 2.5 cc engine for us to make more advance RC planes. Now, our next aim is to make Drones, and we are working on it.
