I’m sure you all are aware of what I’m talking about: ARBOR DAY! The postal delivery service has nothing on us as arborists. Rain? That’s not stopping us! We’ll remove trees that need to go (Norway maples), plant trees to replace what we take, and prune to preserve, climbing them even with the rain, and we’ll do it safely. I hope everyone had a great day with their projects: large in scope like Appleton Farms, or small like tree planting at elemen- tary schools. No matter what the project, you participated and the impact was huge! Sometimes we don’t really have a conceptualization of how we affect the people and environment around us with the projects we do. A decade ago, MAA cele- brated another Arbor Day with the Trustees at Castle Hill. That volunteer effort ignited an understanding of the need for landscape planning by the Trustees which spurred a campaign to raise $25 million toward land stewardship that lives on today. Put that feather in your cap! Your efforts and spirit of giving makes me so proud to be a member of this organi- zation. We are an amazing group of professionals who truly care about what we do with a passion and a camaraderie that is unmatched in other fields. Be proud of who we are and what we do. When the work is done, stand back and look at what you’ve achieved. Tell yourself, “I did that” and pat yourself on the back. As I said in my comments at Appleton Farms, “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!” Russell Holman, MCA , CTSP Hartney Greymont Concord, MA Keep having fun out there and have a great summer. Executive Director M.
