STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Applications Available Now
Every year , the MAA awards the Gordon & Frances King Student Scholarships to incoming freshman students enrolling full-time in the four-year Urban Forestry program at UMass , or the two-year Arboriculture and Park Management program at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture . The submission deadline is May 31 and , typically , the scholarship awards are presented in March of the following year at the Community Tree Conference in Amherst .

As she exits the board , we believe Natascha Batchelor , MCA may be the longest serving volunteer leader in MAA history . Beginning with her service to the MCA committee back in 2005 and on up through the MAA board of directors ’ ranks , she has served our association , and our industry , very well and we are grateful !
The MAA ’ s scholarship is named for the late Gordon King , an enthusiastic , well-loved professor of arboriculture who taught at UMass for more than 25 years — and his late wife , Frances , whose care and support of her husband ’ s arboriculture students earned her the endearing nickname of “ Ma ” King .
The MAA considers student scholarships the most important commitment the arboriculture community can make to ensure the growth and development of the commercial tree care industry .
