Angela Mastrogiacomo Talks Record Labels
Angela Mastrogiacomo is the owner of Muddy Paw PR (which has placed bands on sites such as Noisey, Absolute Punk, Under The Gun Review, Pure Volume, Substream, and more) and music blog Infectious Magazine. She has also founded several chapters of the music industry meet up, “Balanced Breakfast”, and finds inspiration in the works of Frank Turner, Anberlin, Zappa, and Andrew McMahon. In 2014 she spent four consecutive months traveling the US and Canada in an effort to better understand each city’s unique music community. This winter she returned home to Boston with a renewed sense of wonder.

What exactly do record labels handle for artists?
I think that depends largely on the label. Gone are the days when a record label would sweep up an unknown artist and solve all their problems. Sure, the majors still exist, but there’s also a lot of smaller indie labels that can help bands out in unique and innovative ways, like publicity, management, sales, tour support, etc. (cont'd)
