Waterfalls
Haitians trek 60 miles
north of Port au Prince to
the Saut-d’Eau Waterfalls
which is believed to have
religious and voodoo
properties. The falls are
a holy place and the site
of a religious pilgrimage
where people come to
ask favours of the Virgin
Mary of Mount Carmel. A
three-day festival is held
here in July every year
with voodoo and catholic
rituals being performed.
