Jacmel Located in the south, Jacmel is undoubtedly the arts and craft capital of Haiti. The fourth-largest city in the country, it was tentatively accepted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well known for its vibrant cultural scene. It hosts the best carnival festival in all of Haiti and its architecture, although faded still gives one a glimpse of what was once a beautiful, regal city. While there, take a leisurely stroll down the promenade and enjoy a tasty Creole meal. Hiking up the mountain is a day-long excursion. Leaving from Jacmel, head east towards the mountains. Allocate about 4 hours to climb up the hill from Mare Rouge and another 4 hours to hike back.
