Luxury Living Magazine was granted the unique opportunity to speak with these lovely sisters to learn more about their stunning designs and luxurious leathers .
HOW DID THE BUSINESS START ?
KM : As sisters , we are very close and had each gone through the experience of leaving the loving family home and our country , to set up lives overseas . One day , we were both in NYC , having lunch in a roof-top restaurant and were full of ideas . We started talking about home and we soon identified we both wanted to create something that would speak highly of Colombia . We kept talking and came up with the idea of leather accessories . From there the seed was sown .
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS ?
KM : We are an emerging brand within the luxury goods industry , but more than anything , we are a family business , we want to deliver our customer the best personal experience . We want people to feel happy when they buy our products not just because they have a beautiful hand-made handbag but also because they have brought a handbag that has been ethically sourced . Our crocodile leathers are entirely sourced by a local Colombian farm , under the auspices and strict controls of the Environmental Authority ( Ministerio del Medio Ambiente de la República de Colombia ). Crocodile is a material that will last a lifetime and we believe with the purchase of our product , you contribute to the preservation of this much-loved species .
WHO IS A KALAMARIE WOMAN ?
KM : Our bags are a fusion of urban street style and sophistication so the Kalamarie woman is strong yet bold , tough yet functional but above all oozes style – She stands out from the crowd and is not afraid to show her individual flair .
