Il n’aime pas trop le mot design et déteste
celui de décorateur qui ne rend pas compte
de la notion de volume. Il fut styliste de
mode talentueux dans une première vie.
En érigeant l’éclectisme en qualité
supérieure, cet esthète prolifique, pourtant
très organisé, ne facilite pas la définition…
Dire qu’il crée beaucoup de jolies choses
serait juste mais enfantin ! C’est pourtant
dès l’enfance qu’un voyage « au cœur des
choses » a commencé… dans sa double
acception : pousser loin la réflexion et
faire avec amour. Ce qui, finalement, aide
à nommer précisément les créations de
Stéphane Parmentier : rigueur et sensualité.

He does not really like the word ‘design’
and he abhors the term ‘decorator’ because
it fails to convey the sense of volume.
His initial career was that of a talented
designer in the field of fashion. By bringing
eclecticism to a higher level, this prolific
aesthete, despite being well organized,
evades attempts at definition… Saying that
he creates lots of nice things would be a
right but childish assertion! Nonetheless, it
is precisely since his early childhood days
that began a journey to “the heart of things”
… along two axes: push reflection to a next
level and do so with passion. This is what
finally helps to name with precision the
creations of Stéphane Parmentier:
rigour and sensuality.
