Cet emblème hôtelier a fermé ses portes en février 2017 pour une intense et subtile rénovation. Dans le respect de sa tradition. Chargé d’ histoire, l’ hôtel tire son nom du récit du Saint Géran, ce navire qui s’ échoua au large de la côte, près de l’ île d’ Ambre. Un naufrage qui inspira à Bernardin de St Pierre son mythique " Paul et Virginie ". Une histoire d’ amour, un mythe universel, qui imprègne les murs et remplit le cœur du One & Only Le Saint Géran.
Installé dans un cadre paradisiaque au cachet incomparable sur l’ île- entre sable fin, eau turquoise et palmiers- cet hôtel offre les conditions idéales pour profiter d’ un séjour parfait. Les travaux de rénovation améliorent avec élégance l’ expérience des clients de cette péninsule privée, avec des chambres repensées pour s’ intégrer harmonieusement à l’ environnement et au cadre naturel. Vous y trouverez aussi une incroyable possibilité d’ options si vous séjournez entre amis ou en famille. Des suites de deux ou trois chambres sont désormais proposées!
Les restaurants de l’ hôtel ont été repensés dans un esprit d’ authenticité, entre un déjeuner les pieds dans le sable au nouveau restaurant La Pointe, des tables sur l’ eau et des jardins aquatiques. Le domaine a gagné en espace pour offrir à ses clients confort et tranquillité d’ esprit. De nouvelles expériences de loisirs et de détente naissent de cette rénovation, comme la nouvelle piscine et le spa entièrement rénové. The iconic resort closed in February 2017 for an extensive redesign, though we are promised that the hotel’ s majestic old-time spirit will be as present as ever. The resort, after all, is historic in name as it is in reputation, named after Le Saint Géran – the famous ship which wrecked in the environs of the resort, near Ile d’ Ambre. The wreck, of course, gave birth to that mythical tale known throughout the world, Bernardin de St Pierre’ s Paul et Virginie. Mauritius- in myth, culture, landscape and flavour- continues to lie at the very heart of the resort.
Nestled in one of the most perfect corners of the island – think pristine white sand, an azure lagoon that gradually deepens into cobalt hues, and lush palm trees everywhere you turn – the hotel has already ticked all the necessary luxury travel requirements. The resort’ s refurbishment aims to enhance the guest’ s experience of this private peninsula: rooms have been reconceptualised to enhance this indoor / outdoor fusion. In addition, you’ ll find an incredible array of room options if staying with friends and family – two and three bedroom suites are now on offer!
The resort’ s restaurants have been redesigned to bring the peninsula literally at your feet, with feet-in-sand lunching experiences at the brand new La Pointe, water courtyard areas, and over-water seating plans. The resort has also grown in size and offerings, giving guests the space to just be, a sanctuary for mindfulness and tranquillity. New dining and lounging experiences await, as well as a new pool area and a gorgeously revamped spa, to the excitement of all: set in the resort’ s luxurious gardens, guests will be treated to world-famous treatments, a yoga pavilion and fresh, organic meal options. This is wellness at its finest.
The resort’ s world-class service, of course, will remain unchanged if not heightened. One & Only Le Saint Géran has been a haven for actors, rock stars, politicians and artists alike since the hotel’ s opening in 1975: guests strolling around the hotel’ s premises have caught glimpses of every megastar from Oprah Winfrey, Charlize Theron to members of the English, Swedish, Norwegian and Monegasque Royal family. As many of them head to Mauritius for the festive season, I am sure they will be looking forward to returning to their tropical home.
