Kenni’s Korner

Kenni’s ‘Fave Five’ things you should check out to enhance various areas of your life.

Music: ‘Round and Round’ – Tevin Campbell

Kenni says: Focus on the lyrics: ‘nothing comes from talking after sound / we can talk all we want to/but the world still goes around and round/….and what we’re looking for still isn’t found’. What this says to me is ‘shut up with all the woulda, shoulda, couldas and get up and do something’. Too often people speculate on things and day dream about things they could do to either make a difference or just make their own lives better. Dreams are nice to have but if you never execute them what is the point of dreaming? Don’t let opportunities pass you by. Don’t let your dreams sit stagnant. Stop just dreaming and start doing!

Literature: ‘Still Standing’ – K.S. Oliver

Kenni says: Strength, endurance, and the power of positive thinking. These are traits we would all like to embody but sometimes life throws us hardballs that challenge our abilities to maintain such characteristics. Oliver’s poetic expression of what it is like to battle various illnesses (including Lupus and Fibrosis) is a testament to just that: maintaining strength, endurance, and trying to keep a positive mindset through it all. Still Standing takes you on an emotional journey through the author’s ailments and life in general. After reading this collection, one should only hope to have as much fighting power as this mighty young woman. Get your read on and tell me what you think.

Food: Belvita Breakfast Biscuits

Kenni says: I stumbled across this gem by accident. While visiting a friend I was urged to try this tasty breakfast bar. Not wanting to be rude, I tried it cautiously and was surprised at how tasty it was. Truthfully, very rarely do I eat breakfast. Mostly because of my schedule, but this new find gave me an alternative to abandoning early day nutrition. With 19 grams of whole wheat, 8 grams of fat, and at 230 calories, Belvita Breakfast Biscuits will leave you satisfied and energized. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it out for yourself and tell me what you think.

Clothing / Accessories: A Positive Attitude

Kenni says: I’m saying it because it needs to be said. It doesn’t matter what you put on your body, how you rock your hair, or what your outer appearance is like in general if your attitude sucks. So, adopt a pleasant demeanor, a favorable attitude, and a positive personality. Be beautiful from the inside out ladies. A positive attitude is one of the greatest accessories you can have and it costs you nothing!

Color: Gold

Kenni says: Imagine the glitz and glimmer of golden hues. This time of year, it’s all around us. From the golden tint of the falling leaves to the hints of gold tones in decorations used during this time of the year, we cannot escape it. So why not find ways to incorporate it? Try adding some touch of golden highlights to your hair color or a shimmering golden quarter-length sweater to dazzle the crowd when you step out. Don’t be afraid of a little shine.
