sometimes pushes--to answer His call to
lead. They shared joys too, of families,
friends, and church members who supported
and inspired them in their walk with
Christ—not the least of which the support
they’ve found in each other. These three
great friends have challenged and encour-
aged each other to commit to this program
and to work through it together.
As inspiring as their stories are, what rings
from all their thoughts is their passion for
the mission and for the Church. From being
“fired up” after every class and ready to take
on a new one, to their desire to share their
experiences and the lessons they’ve learned
in articles, sermons, and conversations, our
SAM’s make it clear that answering the call
has been a fulfilling and perspective-altering
experience even when it is hard.
Perhaps as we consider during this Easter
season some of the many challenging calls
that have been answered in our church and
in the Church writ large, we can take time to
hear what calls may be active in our lives.
Perhaps it is a call to support, as we seek to
help our SAM’s and other church leaders
with our expertise, prayers, time, attendance,
and praise. Perhaps it is a call to leadership
as in any time of transition we see new roles
open up for people to guide ministries with-
in the church and to utilize their skills and
gifts to create new ways to carry out God’s
plans within our church community. What-
ever the call may be, may they guide us to
new and unexpected paths, and allow us to
grow in our relationships with God and with
each other.
