Instead of‘ giving up’ for Lent, Josephians chose to give back. Inspired by their International Experience( IE) trip to Manila, they supported the MaJeKaL Mission through donation drives, tutoring, and advocacy.

The Lent Project 2025 became a meaningful journey of empathy, growth and connection, showing how small steps can make a big difference.
For the Lent Project 2025, Josephians came together to support the MaJeKaL Mission, which serves children living in the slums of Tondo, Manila. We organised a donation drive to collect 2,025 items per category: learning materials, dry food, stationeries and toiletries: basic necessities that the people of Tondo often lack.
This initiative gave every Josephian the opportunity to contribute meaningfully, and we are proud to have met most of our collection goals by the project’ s end.
For Lent Project 2025, we chose to support the MaJeKaL Mission( Make Jesus Known and Loved), inspired by its deep impact on underprivileged communities. During our Y3 International
Experience trip to Manila, we visited the city’ s slums and were deeply moved by the harsh living conditions there were so different from what we knew in Singapore.

Organised by the Prefect EXCO, SJI students tutor young children in Manila in Mathematics during Blended Learning Days. Inspired by their IE trip, students were deeply moved by MaJeKaL’ s work and chose to continue contributing meaningfully. These sessions go beyond academics, as both students and children enjoy sharing Singaporean and Filipino slang and culture, strengthening friendships and cross-cultural understanding.
To raise awareness among younger Josephians, the four of us presented on MaJeKaL during JFJ sessions for the Year 1s and 2s. We shared first-hand insights from the Tondo slums and
