SJI Football: A Season Written in Grit Unity and Glory

SJI FOOTBALL TRIUMPH IN GREEN AND WHITE
The 2025 National School Games football season will stand as one of the most inspiring and unforgettable chapters in SJI’ s sporting history. Across all three divisions, our Josephian footballers did far more than chase results— they showed up, stood together, and played with heart, belief, and an unbreakable sense of unity. What unfolded was a season that not only delivered silverware but also captured the very spirit of the Green and White.
Our B Division boys set the tone with resilience and resolve. Faced with the heartbreak of a narrow 1 – 0 loss to Meridian Secondary School in the semi-finals, the team refused to let disappointment define their journey. Instead, they responded with grit and determination, regrouping to finish the season strongly. A commanding 3 – 1 victory over St Gabriel’ s Secondary School secured the bronze medal and a deserved place on the podium. Captain Kieran Chia and midfielder Jamus Low led by example, each finding the net and embodying the fighting spirit that carried the team through adversity.
The season then rose to historic heights with our A Division. In a milestone moment for the school, SJI clinched the NSG Football Championship title for the very first time. Under the bright lights of Jalan Besar Stadium, the boys battled to a thrilling 2 – 1 extra-time victory over Nanyang Junior College. A calm and confident finish by Darius Lim gave SJI the lead, before NYJC drew level to set up a tense finale. With fatigue setting in and belief carrying the team forward, the decisive moment arrived five minutes from the end of extra time— a towering header from centre-back Hugo Gauthier that sent the Josephian faithful into raptures.
