longing that many of them have to return home . Furthermore , migrant brothers were able to take polaroids with group members consisting of SJI and ROH volunteers . These will serve as keepsakes for them to remember this occasion , and to recall that they are not alone . Following this event , migrant brothers asked our Josephians whether they could meet once again in SJI , which occurred once again , in a later session conducted by NPCC .

Through this experience , Josephians were able to better understand the hopes and pains of the migrant brothers , many of whom wished to rejoin their families . More importantly , they were enlightened to the fact that we have more in common with our migrant brothers than we think . Similar to many of us , big actions did not have to be taken to brighten up the lives of our migrant brothers . Gestures as simple as a high-five , giving them a nod of appreciation , or simply just smiling are as meaningful .
The hours of planning by Josephians and teachers culminated in an event which provided migrant brothers a space where they felt a sense of belonging . Most importantly , they were able to connect with others and share their worries . As a migrant brother shared : “ Today , I feel like I ’ m a Singaporean .”
From our student project head : “ It was my pleasure to give my full effort to serve others in our society . As it might be my last year serving in SJI , I hope that the batches of Josephians after me will continue my legacy in striving to serve the last , the lost , and the least . Ora et Labora , and God bless .” ~ Benjamin Lien , LE401
