GROWING AND CONNECTING WITH THE JOSEPHIAN ALUMNI FRATERNITY | LUMEN

Growing and Connecting with the Josephian Alumni Fraternity

SJI has , for the past 171 years , graduated thousands of students through its gates at the former Bras Basah and current Malcolm Road campuses . Every Josephian holds with him ( or her ) their unique and shared memories of what could be some of the ‘ best times of their lives ’, be it their favourite spot or canteen stall , or the teacher that left them the most lasting impression or helped shaped their lives or destiny . It is these shared memories and common heritage that form the unique SJI identity and community .
To this end , the 15th Executive Committee of the St Joseph ’ s Institution Old Boys ’ Association ( SJIOBA ) is embarking on new initiatives to unite Josephians - present and past - for its next phase of post-pandemic growth .
Besides homecoming events and dinners to celebrate the school ’ s illustrious heritage such as the 170th anniversary of the Lasallian mission in 2022 , the SJIOBA looks forward to connecting with the SJI alumni community at large through other outreach events such as the Josephian Family Missions to Pouthum in Cambodia , Christmas Eve mass and networking sessions for personal and professional development . Our community of alumni with their professional work experiences from diverse industries has immense potential to support one another on our individual journeys and the SJIOBA aims to organize and provide more opportunities for Josephians to network and collaborate .
For collaborations , volunteering and networking opportunities with the SJI alumni , please contact Mr Simon Seow , SJIOBA President via the secretariat at secretariat @ sjioba . org .
Snapshot of our activities since 2022 :
As part of the 170th Anniversary of the Lasallian Mission in Asia ( LSIA170 ) celebrations in 2022 , about 30 SJI alumni cyclists with their families embarked on a 17km cycling expedition from the Singapore Art Museum at Bras Basah Road to the Malcolm Road campus where they concluded with fellowship and supper at the SJI canteen . Another 170km round island ride was conducted by our stout-hearted alumni who were prepared for this longer challenge . Both cycling events were organized by Mr Bernard Ng ( Class of 1980 ).
