The play was a wholly enjoyable and truly unforgettable event for many of us , and we all found respite in the humour from our humdrum routines as we were rejuvenated in our appreciation of drama and the arts .
A NIGHT WITH SHAKESPEARE AT FORT CANNING GREEN | LUMEN
Quotes from attendees
Ong Chen Xi ( FN402 )
“ A surprisingly lively experience , where the mystique of classical Greece is reimagined in an industrial facility with machine guns and cell phones , while still preserving the same charm and playfulness of the original play . This production serves as an important reminder that art is always evolving and never static , and as a rite of passage for any Literature student to recognize the magic of Shakespeare , however they choose to perceive it .”
Mohamed Sufi Anaqi bin Mohamed ( LE402 )
“ Shakespeare in the Park ’ s captivating performance brought comedy to life in uniquely exciting ways , and gave me a newfound love for classic Literature in modern perspective . My fellow Josephians and I were deeply moved by the actors ’ efforts to encapsulate the many intricacies of the play , and were able to bond over our shared experience . The play served not only to help us appreciate fine arts , but to bring people together through the medium of theatre .”

“ SRT ’ s production of A Midsummer ’ s Night Dream might not have been the O-Level text for this year ’ s Josephians , but the nuances of this comedy were not lost on any of them . With its irreverent , totally inexplicable club beats to distract you from life ’ s pains , strobe lighting , and iambic pentameter in rap and song , I ’ m sure the Josephians were inspired to explore other dramatic expressions of their own ! As a rite of passage for O-Level Literature students , I hope attending Shakespeare in the Park has rekindled their love for the literary arts .”
