Place - Performing Arts Centre ( PAC ) This is my favourite spot in SJI . On Thursdays and Josephian Formation Journey ( JFJ ) lessons , I look forward to level meetings and One Minute Gem ( OMG ) so that I can go to the PAC . The PAC is a huge place with very comfortable chairs . The setting there looks almost like a theatre as there is a big screen with loud speakers . The comfort helps me to focus well . I am very grateful to the school for giving us such comfortable places to learn and study .

The canteen in SJI is a place where I can bond with my friends while munching on good food such as noodles and chicken rice . It is also a place where I go to relax and take my mind off my troubles . Finally , the canteen is a place where I meet teachers when I need help with my work .

The canteen is one of my favorite places in SJI as it is unique and special in its own way . The canteen offers a wide variety of food at a reasonable price . The stalls are also different as compared to my primary school and I always look forward to visiting it everyday after tiring hours of lessons . It is a place for me to relax and relieve stress . My favorite stalls would be the Nasi Padang stall and Uncle John ’ s pastries . I have had an amazing experience having my meals at the SJI canteen and I hope to have the same experience throughout my years in SJI . The canteen has held a special place in my heart .

For me , it is not about the building or an event . It is the people . The staff and students of SJI make the space .
It is a natural phenomenon that teachers who join SJI in the same year form a unique bond between them . My batch was no different . Among them , two of them are my firm friends , the same two who were my bridesmaids are the same two who have journeyed with me through my happiest moments , my roughest patches and my inane experiences .
I have seen staff come and go for various reasons . Whether it is secondment , personal reasons , or a new environment , a number have returned to SJI after leaving . To them , it is also the people who beckon them back .
Then there are the students . Students who were gawky boys transformed into fine young men . I know it is clichéd , but it is true . Chance or planned meetings with them bring with them a treasure trove of memories : precious and meaningful .
It is the collegiality , the camaraderie and a sense of the familial . Ask me again , what ’ s special about SJI ? My response will always be : the people .

If you walk along the corridor from Year 1 Block all the way to the Beurel Library , or from the different classrooms to the Science laboratories and special function rooms , you will observe the different tiles that form the path under your feet – from ceramic tiles to cement tiles , mosaic tiles to granite ( or is it marble ?) tiles . Some evoke images of luxury and some might lead you to a fall if you are not careful especially on a rainy day .
From their different appearance and textures , one can tell these tiles were laid at different times from the past decades . Though the look of the path may not be as unitary as one would wish , and some parts may even seem mismatched or incompatible in design , the tiles tell us a story - a story of an educational institution ’ s attempts to bring the best growing experiences to its learners through the ever-changing of times .

One thing I love about SJI are words from the school song ‘ We are Lasallian ’ – that “ we are one , but we are many ”. It never fails to remind me how our Josephian community is truly a mosaic of cultures , strengths and personalities , where every individual matters just as much as the collective whole .
