This page : The nativity scene displayed at SJI Foyer

The ‘ Spirit of SJI ’ sculpture ( on the cover ) stands quietly at the roundabout in SJI , welcoming all visitors who step foot on her grounds . This statue , amongst the many around the campus by the late Bro Joseph McNally , FSC , epitomises the Josephian spirit in all of us . Like the six La Salle Brothers who came to setup the first La Salle school in Singapore in 1852 , many Josephians have proved to be different , venturing out with a spirit of courage and perseverance , to pursue their passions in life .

Indeed , the Spirit of SJI and the Josephian community has remained strong and flourished gloriously in her 166 years of history , as the stories in this issue of Lumen will tell you . Our educators share their love and passion for their teaching vocation through the professional development of their fellow educators . Our young Josephians have discovered their passion from ants to rock music during their time in SJI , while our alumni have found joy and meaning in life through Christ .
We hope this issue of Lumen continues to stir and inspire the Spirit of SJI in all of us . May the peace and joy of Christ be with you this Christmas season . Ora et Labora !
