2018 marks the 30th anniversary of SJI at Malcolm Road . The idea of Malcolm @ 30 was mooted to extend our gratitude to our donors , alumni and the many benefactors for their generous support towards the redevelopment of SJI ’ s campus since 2012 . The generosity of our benefactors have allowed the school to redevelop and expand the campus , and improve the existing school facilities for teaching and learning .

In celebration of this occasion , SJI launched a new book titled “ For Others ”. The book featured stories of Josephians from all walks of life who have lived out the Lasallian values of Faith , Service and Community . These alumni have made an impactful difference in the lives of others , serving as an inspiration and a role model for our fellow Josephians .

The book was a labour of love by editor and English teacher Mr Alan Johnson ( Class of 1992 ) and the 2016 Year 4 Integrated Programme students who had the rare opportunity to interview and write the stories of more than 40 distinguished alumni . The book features distinguished Josephians such as Chong Fah Cheong , Nicholas Fang , A / Prof Gilbert Lau , Peter Seah , and Warren Fernandez .
Here follows an excerpt from the foreword to the book , written by the Chairman of the Committee , Professor Tan Cheng Han :
