This page : The St Joseph ’ s statue where it originally stood tall and mightily in 1988 , against the human outline facade .

1988 was a transformational year in SJI ’ s history . That year , SJI became an independent school , and moved from the iconic school at Bras Basah to a brand new campus at Malcolm Road . This year marks our 30th year of teaching and learning at Malcolm Road , following a 3-year campus redevelopment while the school was hosted in a temporary location in Bishan .

The education landscape in Singapore has evolved tremendously in the last three decades . From being an all-boys school that offered the O-level programme to the present and with the
Integrated Programme track , SJI has kept up with the educational changes in Singapore , to provide an Integrated Programme track for those who are keen to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme . In this issue , we look at some of the developments that have taken place within SJI . Yet one thing remains , as shared by Mr Soo Chan Hua in his reflection , that SJI remains true to its mission : being the community that has always been there for her people .
We hope you enjoy this issue of Lumen . Ora et Labora !
